As Jon Stewart prepares to step down as host of The Daily Showafter 16 years on the job, he's speaking out about why he decided to leave the show behind.
What then are Jon Stewart’s targets? Stewart has a very broad target range. He stated his targets are any absurdities in the government and political realm as well as absurdities seen around the world. In the video, Stewart targets George Bush and his involvement in the War in the Middle East as well as Alberto Gonzales and his court trial. In an interview, Stewart accused Paul of balancing the budget on the backs of the 9/11 first responder. “Jon Stewart can't just have a free pass to lie to people. Download the WHAS11 News.
In an interview with The Guardian, Stewart says there were a number of factors, including the desire to spend more time with his wife and their two children, ages 9 and 10. 'It's not like I thought the show wasn't working any more, or that I didn't know how to do it,' Stewart tells The Guardian. 'It was more, 'Yup, it's working. But I'm not getting the same satisfaction.'
It may be surprising to some longtime Daily Show fans that another reason behind Stewart's decision was a lack of enthusiasm about covering another presidential election. 'I'd covered an election four times, and it didn't appear that there was going to be anything wildly different about this one,' he tells The Guardian. 'It was a combination of the limitations of my brain and a format that is geared towards following an increasingly redundant process, which is our political process.'
Stewart has no doubt that the show will do fine under his successor, Trevor Noah. 'Really, the value of this show is so much deeper than my contribution,' he tells The Guardian. 'If Oprah can leave and the world still spins, I honestly think it will survive me.'
